Shaver post driver for pounding posts into the ground without digging a hole. Suitable for mounting on small utility tractors and larger compact tractors.
The HD-8-S has been designed with a built in supporting leg to steady the machine during the driving process.
The mounting kit must be ordered separately, see mounting options below.
Shaver post drivers can be mounted on a tractor or skid steer loader and are powered hydraulically. Oil from the tractor hydraulic system raises a spring loaded driving ram. At the touch of a lever on the hydraulic valve, the spring loaded ram strikes the post, driving it into the ground, and the hydraulic oil diverts back into the tractor reservoir.
The operator has complete control over the driving operation. The post is held in place with a spring loaded safety arm, allowing the operator to stand well to the side of the driver operation. Gentle blows start the post into the ground. At full stroke, the ram delivers 30,000 lbs of impact to the post.
All Shaver drivers use tilt and offset to make driving a vertical post easy. The tilt and offset functions are handled mechanically with a screw crank system, or hydraulically with the aid of cylinders. (This SKU uses a mechanical tilt and offset feature.)
There are three models of driver to choose from: the HD-8, HD-10, and HD-12. The HD-8 can be mounted on smaller utility or compact tractors. It only requires 3 to 4 gallons of oil flow per minute. The HD-8 can handle posts up to 7" in diameter, and 10' long. It is not designed for commercial use.
