We are always thrilled to see our products out in the field. Here is a well used, well loved, Harper SB1300 straw blower that we discovered while out and about in Michigan. Straw blowers are essential in the landscaping industry for spreading straw over newly seeded areas. Straw mulch is still the best way to prevent seed loss to wind, capture moisture to prevent seedbeds from drying out, and maintaining control against erosion on slopes. Seedbeds that are planted under straw mulch get a good jump start and produce solid stands of grass or ground cover.
We found this unit at Roese Contracting in Traverse City. Roese Contracting Co. is a nationally known contracting firm that specializes in underground and aerial contracting. They operate out of several locations in Michigan, Alabama and Arkansas.
Harper Industries, which manufactures this line of straw blowers is based in Harper, Kansas. Many years ago Harper purchased the Goossen brand name and turf equipment line. Even though the Goossen brand name no longer appears on new machine decals, these units are still widely known as Goossen straw blowers. Through several design changes and product improvements with an eye toward safety, the Harper name is slowly being recognized as an industry leader in turf equipment.
